Are you waiting, waiting for things to change so you can be happy or finally take action on some of your ambitions. Have your goals slipped away? Are they feeling like they are always out of reach? If so, I understand, as mine did too a while. I started losing hope of achieving my goals. Life was just too busy. Life happens, doesn’t it? One day, though I decided it was time to make things happen, I couldn’t just wait. I went back to personal development and started reading motivational and inspirational quotes to keep me inspired and keep me progressing towards my goal.

Change and Growth In Life
Any sort of change is scary. Moving to a new country, starting a new job, starting a business. I find change scary because it puts me out of my comfort zone, pushing me into fear. Fear of failure. Yet, it is the fear I need to step through to reach my goals.

It was Jim Rohn who said ‘For things to change, you need to change.’ Change comes about from forming new habits. Change does not happen by just reading a personal development book. Change and growth come about from action and somedays I need a little inspiration to progress to take action towards my goals. I use a tacker to track my habits, you can get your free 90 day success planner and habit tracker here. A tracker helps you stay accountable to yourself.
Back to Jim Rohn.
For many years I’ve been a fan of Jim Rohn and I have had the pleasure of attending a seminar in Singapore where he spoke. He was amazing and so inspiring to listen to. I still listen to podcasts and read his books as well as listen to other leaders share the wisdom they gained through him.
Jim Rohn teaches people how to tap into their true potential and take action towards their goals. He teaches how to overcome the negative thoughts and talks and teaches how anything is possible for anyone. Jim Rohn is known as the godfather of the self-help industry as many leaders draw from his inspirations.
Jim Rohn passed away in 2009, however, his legacy lives on in quotes, books, podcasts and the teaching from other inspirational leaders.
10 Jim Rohn Quotes To Inspire Change
One of my favourite Jim Rohn quotes builds on the discipline of habits. Habits become routine and with routine, the task is completed, a goal achieved.
I’m someone who likes to have control of my life. I like choices on what I do and when I do things, therefore, I really relate to the quote ‘Either you run the day or the day runs you’.
Life has many ups and downs, many challenges and many obstacles. I have found the best way to move forward is to improve skills and work my way through the challenges I face. I will be honest there are times I may have sat back and thought ‘why is it life is this hard?’. Although I have thought this I have never wished life to be easier as I know the universe only provides me with what I can handle.
Education is the way forward, it is the way to better yourself and improve skills. I am a big believer in self-education and self-development from books, audio, courses, webinars. There is so much you can learn that will improve your life and so many ways in which to learn.
There have been times I could not afford the books I wanted to read, thank you for libraries. Just as there have been times I could not afford a course, thank you for peers and mentors.

Many times I have focussed on goals that I have not achieved, maybe the vision was not strong enough at that time. When I have not achieved results I can normally track it back to a lack of discipline on working towards that goal. Other times I have reached the outcome only to lapse back to the start again as I was not ready to change the setpoint. I have found that only when I’ve been ready and disciplined that the goal is accomplished.
Change is a choice.
There have been many occasions in which I have changed direction, moved house, moved country. I have held many jobs as I’ve worked together with Carsten to always be around for our children as they grew up. I’ve also changed careers when I’ve realised I’m going down the wrong road. The career I thought I do for life, I soon realised I would not. I enjoy a varied life of my making.
Carsten and I have also moved home and countries multiple times together. We moved until we found a place we wanted to settle in and call home. Change is not easy, but change is worth it.
All the changes I have made over the years have been because I have chosen how to live my life. I believe we all have choices and one of them for me is to design my own life plan. How I live, where I live, what I do. I enjoy the freedom of choice.
Research that is what I do a lot of. I research. If I don’t know an answer I research it. If I believe I need to learn a new skill for a project I learn it. Working through problems becomes easier with more knowledge.
I have chosen to increase my skills as I’ve got a few dreams which to me are non-negotiable. The desire to travel more often. The goal of creating a laptop lifestyle in order to see family and friends around the world more often. The dream of travelling more often in Australia. Our home country is large and it takes time to see all the beautiful places it has to offer. The dream of helping others develop skills so they too can enhance their lives. I’ve found having clarity on your goals is important and being prepared to upskill and change to obtain them.
It is only by starting and developing the skills and talents that I have that I have progressed forward. You have skills and talents that you have learnt that are valuable to share. Jim Rohn says ‘Start from where you are and with whatever you’ve got’. What you have got can be expanded on with discipline and commitment to learn, adapt and change.
