The world is a big place and for the most part, it is filled with negativity. Positive thinking does not come naturally to everyone. For many people, it is a struggle to wake up and just be positive, be positive for the brand new day. Many people first require to conquer the negative vibes within themselves before dealing with the world’s negativity. I know this because I’ve been there. It is draining. Negativity drains our energy and our will to do our best in life. Yet as much as it can be hard to see at times there is always something to be positive about. There are so many things to be grateful for many of which we take for granted. It is totally possible to create positive thinking habits that will serve you and help you through each day.
What I have found is that negative thoughts are hard to get rid of, no matter how small, once we allow them to invade our minds. I have found that negativity feeds on fear and lack of confidence and to live a fulfilling and happy life, one needs to replace all the negativity with positive thoughts. See the world in a new light, appreciate and cultivate positive thoughts and happiness.
Tips on creating positive thinking habits.
It is vital to relax our minds to stop negative thoughts from finding comfort within our minds. Negative thoughts can easily take over the mind. Therefore, having a habit of practising positive thinking can create a positive attitude. A positive mindset that can eventually take over your mind.
Exercise and breathe.
One way to create a positive mindset is to exercise daily or regularly at least. As exercise is a great way to relax your mind as it channels all the energy away from negativity.
Breathing deeply also helps. Taking deep breaths helps clear the mind and pave way for positive thinking.

Each day I go out for a walk in nature and soak in the positive vibes of the surroundings I walk in. Carsten enjoys golf and finds he can clear his mind as he hits practice balls at the local golf club.
Keep a gratitude diary.
It’s hard to say do not become a pessimist, especially if you are often feeling down. Even if you are feeling like there is nothing to be positive about, there always is. One way to commence being positive is to find just one thing to write down to be positive about. It can be one small thing.
Like; the sun is shining, the grass is green, a smile from a friend, and food on the table.
Take a diary and write one thing, then expand and write 2 things. It is great too if you can find a good thing worth writing down about yourself or your day.
Make it a daily habit to cultivate positivity no matter how bad your day is. Having a gratitude diary will help see things from a different perspective and resurrect hope that things will be better during the down days. Keep positive company.
Negative thoughts gradually wear you down and it is advisable to always ask oneself ‘how can I be more positive?‘ With such an attitude you start to realize even the company we keep can affect how we think, therefore it is vital to surround yourself with a positive company that will offer constructive feedback and encouragement.
Share a Smile.
A smile will help change your mood. Smiling helps relieve stress and acts as an assurance that all will be well. In the face of negativity, smile back at yourself and watch the magic happen.
Smiling is one way to take control of your thoughts. You can always afford a smile even in the toughest and darkest of times. When you smile you leave no room for negative thoughts to manifest.
There has been a period in my life where I didn’t want photos taken wasn’t happy but I read a quote from Yoko Ono ‘Smile in the mirror. Do that every morning and you’ll start to see a big difference in your life’. It is amazing how a simple smile to yourself works.
Avoid aiming for too many goals.
We all have goals to achieve and each day the list becomes bigger and bigger. Are any of these 100 goals on your goal achievement list?
Failing to achieve goals can lead to negativity. Do not spread thin your focus and energy by pressuring yourself with tons of goals. Focus on one to three goals in different areas of your life at a time, and do something each day towards your goals so it becomes a habit. When you create habits your goals are slowly achieved. Put yourself first.
Put your well-being first. Do not drown yourself in the pool of negativity. To start with, read positive quotes and post them on fridges, computers, diaries or even your phone.

Use imagination and put all the negative thoughts and energy in one basket and toss them in the river and watch them float away. This way, you live a happy and satisfying life.
