What is 2020 going to look like for you? Are you setting goals for different areas in your life and aiming to achieve them? Or are you like many people including how I used to be in the past, setting too many goals and finding you’re not getting anywhere fast? Achieving goals requires having a meaningful plan. A goals planner that you will use and take action with.
It is now as the year draws to an end that I like to set my goals for the following year, so I can start the year with a map. A plan to guide and keep me on track. Fortunately, I discovered the Nadalie Bardo’s Slay Your Goals Planner, which is an awesome printable planner to help you achieve your goals.
The slay your goals planner is a plan which aids you in setting your intention and assists you with establishing your mini goals to help you achieve your main goals. Your main overall goal may not change each year, especially if it is a life goal which takes 5 to 10 years to achieve. That is ok, as each year you need to start where you’re at and plan out the direction you would like to go and the slay your goals planner can help with that.
What is the slay your goals planner?
The slay your goals planner is a planner to help assist you with your goals. It has a lot of information and strategies for goal setting and goal planning.
- The version I have has 78 pages that guide you through different areas related to goal setting.
- Although designed as a printable goal setting planner, you don’t need to print it as the templates can be typed into.
- The planner includes inspiring quotes.
- A great feature of the planner is it is date free, meaning you can save it and use year after year.
- The planner is very reasonably priced at $27. (At time of writing this review)
When I’m goal planning, I like to grab a pen and my worksheets and write it all down, plan it out. If you like to print your worksheets too, read the tip below as I found you don’t need to print every page, just the templates you require to design your goals for the year.
Tip: ensure you read the contents page first, as this gives you direction and a guidance on which pages you may need to plan your goals.
The slay your goals planner chapters.
Set your Intention.
The first chapter is dedicated to helping you discover your true goals for all spheres of your life. It’s about discovering your why and what you would like to do and where you’d like to be in 1 year, 5 years, even 10 years.
What I loved about this chapter is how it works with visualizing your future day.
Choose your #1 Goal.
The second chapter focuses on discovering your number one goal and turning it into your intention. The chapter focuses on getting clear on your goal with who, what, where, how and is the goal right for you.
There are two tests in this chapter to help you clarify if your chosen goal is the right one for you. The first test is using SMART goals, the second test I hadn’t used before it is ‘is your goal RIGHT?’
I loved using the ‘is your goal RIGHT’ method as it draws on emotions and I find feelings are essential in achieving goals.
Select 4 mini goals.
Chapter three is an area that I really enjoyed working through as I love to work in 90 day blocks. The slay your goal planner breaks goals down into quarters, which is effectively 90 days.
Too many people underestimate what they can achieve in 90 days.
I like to track my daily habits and this section assisted with setting the actions I need to take and track.
Additionally, chapter three helps with breaking down the goal into manageable steps and turning those steps into actions to take daily.
Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards.Soren Kierkegaard
Plan your year ahead.
This chapter focuses on the road map to get you to your goal. The focus is on planning the steps to achieve your mini goals. Each mini goal you achieve brings you closer to your overall goal.
Success is a steady progress towards one’s goals.Jim Rohn
This chapter, chapter 4 includes some reflection on your achievements, which is an important step in goal setting and goal achievement. Reflection helps you see your wins, loses and the adjustments you need to make.
Some months I feel like the month has passed and I haven’t achieved much. Yet, with reflection, I soon realize that throughout the month many obstacles were overcome and new processes put into practice. Reflection is such an important step towards goal success.
I personally like to reflect at the end of each day, as a long time ago I heard a question that you should ask yourself at the end of each day. That question is, ‘Would I employ myself?’ This is not the question I ask myself each day, but I do ask myself a question every day. The question I ask myself each day is ‘What two things have I done today to feel amazing and bring me closer to my goals?’
As bloggers, we’re business owners and reflecting on the days’ progress helps plan for a better tomorrow.
Crush your to-dos.
Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.Jim Rohn
Maybe you think I don’t know the path to take or how to get there. That is ok. As, as you progress and learn you discover the options you have and the way forward. Even if you have the same goal as another person, no two people have the same journeys. You both bring unique experiences from your past and present as you achieve your future goals.
As we all work differently, chapter 5 has a variety of monthly goal planners in which to prioritize the monthly, weekly and daily to-dos.
What I loved about this section is I could entwine the ideas of prioritizing actions with my daily journal. Each day I ask myself ‘What two things can I do today to feel amazing and bring me closer to my goals?’. From the worksheets, I could transfer two of the actions from the to-slay list to my journal.
Review your goals.
Reviewing your progress is an important step and Nadalie has 11 important questions to ask yourself each month in this part of the slay your goals planner.
The questions enable you to see how far you’ve come and steps you need to take in coming months to focus on your number one goal or life goal.
What I loved is the added bonus in the version I had of the year in review as I like to review my past year as I plan for the next year. I find the best time to plan for the next year is before the current year has ended.
The strength and weakness; The slay your goals planner review.
The strength and the weakness of the slay your goal planner is that it can appear overwhelming because of the many worksheet and calendar styles. There are many goal planners available to help with goal setting, what I like about the slay your goals planner is the variety of worksheets and how they are adaptable to be used as a printable, in your own journal or as prompts to ideas to help with goal achievement.
I personally liked the worksheets 5H and W (you will need to get the planner to find out about these).
As mentioned the Slay Your Goals Planner is reasonably priced at only $27. However once a year the slay your goals planner comes with an added bonus. This year it’s the 2020 yearly planner.
